Ppodong is a fantastical hamster capable of growing to gigantic proportions with the help of red sunflower seeds.
He was the first creature ever summoned by Lloyd Frontera and remains loyal to him as a trusty servant and construction assistant.
Appearance[]
Ppodong is a small, fluffy brown hamster with shining brown eyes and a rosy blush on his cheeks. He has two noticeable tufts of fur on the top of his head as well as one on his chest and inside both of his ears. He has two prominent front teeth that sit over his bottom lip to form a triangular shape.
Personality[]
Ppodong is loyal to Lloyd Frontera and is often seen sitting on his shoulder. He works diligently and without complaint when ordered to, assisting in both construction and combat situations without hesitation. He has been shown to express deep concern when either Lloyd or Javier are in danger, remaining by his master's side when bedridden with injuries or exhaustion and having leapt into danger to save Javier from being crushed by a gigatitan.
Ppodong is also very close and protective of his summoned creature friends, Bangul and Hamang. When Hamang was initially summoned and had his abilities doubted by Lloyd, Ppodong was seen comforting a saddened Hamang and protesting alongside Bangul to make Lloyd recognize the value of their labor. Both summons were then seem looking rather smug and prideful after Hamang demonstrated his ability to drink water. Ppodong also showed a similarly smug face when he himself was first summoned and showed his skills.
After spending so much time with Lloyd, Ppodong has presumably adopted certain aspects of his personality as seen in his interactions with Ggoming. When confronted with the bird's apathetic and lazy attitude, Ppodong first approaches him with a smile and encourages him to work for the sake of others, and attempts to cheer him on again once he becomes lazy again later on. After this fails, Ppodong scolds him for being disrespectful and quickly resorts to using physical force and threats of violence in order to motivate him instead, even mimicking one of Lloyd's signature evil grins once the attempt finally proves successful.
Story[]
Meeting Lloyd[]
Ppodong makes his first appearance after being summoned by Lloyd Frontera through the Random Summon Game. He pulls himself through the summoning window and falls on the floor, dirtying his face before excitedly sitting up and staring expectantly at his new master. Contrary to his expectations, Lloyd clicks his tongue in disappointment and mutters that it must be a dud. Shocked, Ppodong attempts to desperately explain his worth, to which Lloyd reluctantly listens and crouches down to ask what he is capable of. Ppodong chews up and spits out the instruction manual for his use as well as a free packet of blue and red sunflower seeds. Vaguely disgusted, Lloyd gingerly picks up the spit-soaked papers and reads through the instructions before feeding the hamster a red sunflower seed.
In a flash of light, Ppodong grows to over 30 feet in height and easily knocks Lloyd away. Bruised, he stares in amazement while Ppodong smugly grins with pride. He then showcases his three other skills: Digging level 1, Packing Dirt level 2, and Cheek Pockets level 1, where he spits out a large chunk of earth that splashes over Lloyd. Undeterred, he only grins while covered in spit and begins thinking of how to better utilize his newfound equipment. He shrinks Ppodong back down to normal and tucks him away in his jacket pocket before returning to the manor.
Skills[]
- Size Manipulation: With the help of sunflower seeds obtained through the System, Ppodong can grow to over 30 feet in size. Eating a red sunflower seed will make him grow, with the transformation lasting for a maximum of 12 hours, while eating a blue sunflower seed will reduce him back to his normal small size before this time is up.
- Digging: As a hamster, Ppodong is capable of digging extremely quickly and efficiently through materials like dirt and clay.
- Packing Dirt: Ppodong is able to firmly pack down raised dirt by rolling on top of it when enlarged.
- Cheek Pockets: Ppodong is able to store large quantities of dirt inside his mouth and cheeks.
Trivia[]
- Ppodong's name is translated as แฮมมี่ (Ḥæm mī̀) in the official Thai version of the Webtoon, being the only language that does not phonetically resemble his original name in any way.
- The sunflower seeds also work on humans, with some adverse effects, as seen in The Crown Prince That Sells Medicine chapter 35. Since both manhwas take place in the same universe, it's safe to assume that the Sunflower Seeds work the same in GED.
