Ondol (온돌) floors were the first construction project ever started by Lloyd Frontera. The project's success directly led to the inception of the Black Coal Mine, as the floors require continual amounts of burnable fuel.
Ondol is an underfloor heating system achieved with the use of a dug-out space beneath the floor for the smoke from a small fire to travel through. This smoke is then released through a chimney on the opposite side of the heated room.
Conception[]
During his second day in the body of Lloyd Frontera, Suho Kim first thought of introducing ondol floors to the Frontera County after hearing that the local pub owner's mother was suffering from the cold. Due to the debt of his family, he realized that creating a solution to this would not only earn forgiveness for Lloyd's prior delinquency, but also begin a steady flow of money for him to directly profit from.
Construction[]
After receiving his first order from the pub owner, Lloyd spent a week successfully constructing the traditional timber frame and clay walls of a small ondol house. The timber was sourced from the Frontera estate's warehouse and the clay was dug up from a nearby river. He did all of this work alone before receiving the help of Javier Asrahan, who noticed both his determination and his exhaustion. The two completed the rest of the construction together.
Reception[]
The pub owner and his mother were both extremely satisfied with the result, with the mother in particular finding that the heat greatly eased her joint and muscle pain. Word of this seemingly miraculous result spread through the town, leading a crowd of villagers to line up for a chance to see it for themselves. Lloyd subsequently received 32 orders for Style A and 57 orders for Style B.
After turning his focus to other projects, Lloyd eventually left the ondol construction to be overseen by Bayern, who has presumably continued managing all further contracts in the background.
