Monster Domino is a wave of monster attacks in the Kingdom of Magentano. This was caused by their enemy nation, the Kingdom of Asfahan, by stamping out the monsters in the Eastern Wilderness, taking away their habitat. With Asfahan setting fire to reed fields, this set in motion the domino-like mass migration of great monsters. The monsters move west and drive another group of monsters westward. These monsters get pushed out like dominoes and wreak havoc in the Eastern Region.

Unlike in the original novel, Knight of Blood and Iron, the Monster Domino happens three years earlier. Lloyd is able to foresee the events due to his Ending Spoiler skill. He asks Queen Magentano to mobilize troops to the Cremona Region to prevent the calamity.

First Wave[]

Prologue[]

When Lloyd uses his Ending Spoiler skill for the first time, he sees Frontera totally devastated by locust swarms. He finds that his parents have died in the attack. He then sees a vision of his future self regretting not arriving just a little earlier and of Javier helpless in eradicating the threat.

Day of the Attack[]

The first wave of monsters encountered are giant locusts which attack Frontera. After riding nonstop for five days, Lloyd and Javier arrive at Frontera barely in time for the first wave.

Lloyd asks a local farmer for their biggest pot lid and instructs Javier to hit the lid, causing it to make a loud sound that attracts the locusts. Lloyd and Javier ride around the county luring the locusts away and having the monsters chase them instead. After circling Frontera, they go to Lacona Viscounty to save it as well.

After luring most of the locusts away from the residents, Lloyd and Javier ride towards Maritz Wetlands. Bangul and Hamang, who Lloyd previously instructed to wait in the wetlands, ready their attack. Bangul uses her Volcanic Ash skill and incinerates the incoming locusts. Hamang then uses Spray Shot which causes some of the locusts to fall out of the sky. Then, as a finishing move, Lloyd and Javier both use Mana Blast towards the swarm.

Despite these attacks, however, a few thousand of the monsters are still left wreaking havoc on the residents. Fortunately, three hundred (300) elite orc warriors from the Sand and Steel Tribe, five hundred (500) soldiers from the White Cavalry, and fifty (50) wizards arrive to finish them off.

Aftermath[]

  • The party successfully stop the swarm of locusts from devastating Frontera and Lacona.
  • Lloyd receives a new title: "Round One Pick by Terminix Pest Control!"
  • After the cleanup, Lloyd sends the 50 wizards back to the capital and asks the 500 soldiers of the White Cavalry to stay to help them with the second wave of the Monster Domino.

Second Wave[]

Prologue[]

Lloyd enlists the aid of the soldiers of the White Cavalry in preparing a trap for the monsters in the second wave. They dig a long and deep ditch and from the earth that they dug out, they create a relief image of a monster upon the earthen ramparts surrounding the village.

Day of the Attack[]

The second wave of monsters encountered are Mastadons. Lloyd instructs Bayern to help the commander of the White Cavalry, Valelardi Blanc, decipher his messages. Lloyd stands on top of a rock away from the cavalry, with a flag on each hand, which he will use to send his messages. Lloyd starts waving his flags and Bayern relays the message to Blanc.

As the Mastadons stampede towards the village, the relief image of the Mastadon's natural enemy, the Megalania, is carved on the village's edge, blocking their path. Lloyd instructs the cavalry make much noise and movement. They are also instructed to bang their lances together loudly. The herd of Mastadons, being frightened by the image of the Megalania, will begin to think that they can hear the steps of another Megalania approaching.

As the herd is in chaos, they run towards and fall into the ditch. Afterwards, Lloyd instructs Hamang to spray a large amount of water into the ditch, washing away the trapped Mastadons.

Aftermath[]

  • The party is victorious against the Mastadons with zero casualties.
  • The Mastadons are washed away downstream where there is plenty to eat, thereby assuring that they will not return.
  • A new canal is created.
  • Lloyd gains the respect of Commander Blanc, who promises to help him with the next monster waves.
  • Bayern adopts five orphaned baby Mastadons and names them: Pudding, Puddang, Pungdeong, Pungding, and Pudong.

Operation Guard Dog[]

Prologue[]

Seeing that the Frontera Estate will not be able to bear the cost of the seemingly endless wave of monster attacks, Lloyd devises a plan which is more sustainable. He proposes to make use of the legendary beast, King Storma, that lives in Lake Kapua. This proposal is opposed by Lloyd's parents but is approved by Javier and Commander Blanc.

Lloyd conducts his research about the said beast and finds that while it is said that he is "a giant beast as big as a mountain," there is no mention of him ever attacking humans. Lloyd also learns that if his habitat is damaged, he will let out a shriek before starting repairs. So, Lloyd plans to destroy a part of the lake all day and night and to destroy it again every time the beast fixes it. He reckons that this shriek will scare the monsters coming over the Eastern Mountains.

Lloyd surveys Lake Kapua and conducts simulations to find out where he should destroy so that it doesn't cause a flood while also waking King Storma. Through the use of meticulous simulations, the terrain around the lake was modified so its banks would crack without causing a flood.

Day of the Operation[]

Javier uses Mana Blast and creates explosion. It causes damage enough to make the natural dam within the lake to collapse. Because of this, King Storma awakens.

Before them is a giant beaver as big as a mountain that is pissed off. Lloyd notes that he can understand what the giant beaver is saying, just like his other summons, which makes him wonder if the beaver is a summon too.

Unfortunately, things do not go according to Lloyd's plan. He had hoped that the beaver would fix his dam and go back to sleep after they damaged it. Instead, the beaver declares that it will wipe everyone out and end their tricks for good. King Storma splashes the water in the lake and creates a giant wave which washes everyone away except Javier who leaps towards the giant beaver.

Javier attacks using his Mana Blast, but this is easily swatted away by King Storma. Javier uses his Aura Sword, ready to slay the beast, but Lloyd stops him, saying that he has a plan. Javier proceeds to create a distract for Lloyd. Unsure of how to distract the beast without seriously injuring it, Javier shouts "Bibeong!" which is the sound that King Storma makes. Unbeknownst to Javier, what he shouted was "Mother!" which catches the attention of King Storma who says that he is not his mother, especially because he is male. Javier, seeing that his screams have distracted King Storma, continues to shout "Bibeong!" This time, his words end up insulting King Storma, as he inadvertently called the giant beaver an ugly toad.

The distraction is successful, and Lloyd emerges from the water and lands on top of King Storma's head. Because the beaver's arms are too short, it is unable to reach for Lloyd. Lloyd leaps forward, and as he is falling, throws a Blue Sunflower Seed towards King Storma's mouth. The beaver swallows it and causes him to shrink.

Lloyd tries to catch King Storma, but he slips away from his grasp. Lloyd commands his summons to capture the beaver, but he is too powerful. However, King Storma immediately stops when he sets his eyes upon Bangul. Lloyd is able to capture King Storma who is deeply infatuated with Bangul.

In the Frontera Estate, Lloyd is able to negotiate a contract with King Storma. This contract states that King Storma should shout twice a day, once in the morning, and once in the evening. Initially, King Storma refuses since Lloyd did not give him any favorable conditions, however, Lloyd manipulates him into agreeing by saying that Bangul would be very happy if he agreed to it.

Aftermath[]

  • King Storma agrees to be called "Bibeong" after sharing a moment with Lloyd.
  • Bibeong helps in driving out the Megalania attacking the Sand and Steel Tribe.

Third Wave[]

Prologue[]

The Sand and Steel Tribe orcs stationed in the Frontera return to their village so they can protect it from the Monster Domino. Lloyd orders some of his men to accompany the orcs to their village to help out. However, Officer Greg returns to the estate bearing news that on their way there, they met a group of orcs saying that their tribe is being attacked by a hoard of Megalania and that they needed reinforcements.

Day of the Attack[]

The hoard of Megalania is able to break through the third line of barricades of the Sand and Steel Tribe village. The orcs do little to no damage upon the monsters.

In the Frontera, Lloyd asks Commander Blanc to have all of his knights meet at the entrance to the village. He feeds a Red Sunflower Seed to Bibeong who grows back to his giant size. Javier, Lloyd, and the knights ride atop the giant beaver and make their way towards the orc village.

Upon arriving at the orc village, Lloyd makes a declaration to the Megalania that there is no other prey for them in the west because here, they are the prey. Bibeong then slaps the Megalania away and sends them flying across the sky.

Aftermath[]

  • The Sand and Steel Tribe swear fealty to the Frontera Clan after having been saved by Lloyd for a second time.
  • The reversal of the Monster Domino is achieved.
  • The Sand and Steel Tribe relocate to the eastern mountainside so that if there is another wave of monsters, they will be able to buy some time.

Reversal of the Monster Domino[]

Semi-intelligent monsters see three Megalanias, their apex predators, flying through the air. Rumors begin to spread among the semi-intelligent monsters that there is a gigantic beast (Bibeong) in the westernmost lands and that there was demon (Lloyd) that controlled the beast. The hordes of monsters that were pushed out from their habitats return to Asfahan and attack the kingdom's walls.

Impact[]

  • Seventeen estates of the Magentano Kingdom are wiped out by the Monster Domino.
  • A massive number of refugees from the south arrive at the Frontera Estate. This leads to the construction of the Honeypot Apartments.
  • Frontera is elevated to the status of county, with Arcos Frontera receiving the title of "Count" due to the thwarting of the Monster Domino, for sheltering the displaced refugees, and the fortification of the Eastern Lands.
