Marbella Frontera is the current countess of the Frontera County. She is the wife of Arcos Frontera as well as the mother of Lloyd Frontera and Julian Frontera.
In the events of Knight of Blood and Iron, she and her husband fall victim to a series of scams and end up committing suicide due to their overwhelming debt.
Appearance[]
Marbella is described in the novel as being a beautiful, middle-aged woman who carries herself with clear sophistication and elegance. She is almost always seen wearing a long dress and standing with straight, correct posture. She has clear blue eyes and curly blonde hair that is usually tied behind her head other than her bangs, which are parted in the middle and frame either side of her face.
Personality[]
As the baroness, Marbella is quick to take action and control when needed, as shown when fearlessly saving a maid from carnivorous locusts and when embarking on an unplanned trip to see her son the moment she learned he was in danger. She is capable and comfortable with assuming control, volunteering to lead the Catering Corps responsible for feeding refugees and remaining enthusiastic in the face of her workers' apprehension to work with strange ingredients.
Marbella has not been shown displaying any cruelty or resentment towards others regardless of their poor behavior, displaying a level of patience and kindness rarely seen in other characters. This is seen most clearly with her first son, Lloyd, as her reaction to hearing of his delinquency at the beginning of The Greatest Estate Developer was genuine concern and heartache above all else. She appears to hold a soft spot for her sons in particular, expressing strong disapproval of Lloyd's reckless and dangerous plans and often growing tearful at the thought of something happening to either him or Julian.
Relationships[]
Arcos Frontera[]
Marbella and her husband, Arcos, are deeply caring of each other and have never once shown any doubt in their companionship. When confronted by Count Cremo's proposal of marriage between Lloyd and his daughter, Christine, Arcos explained that such a political marriage would be impossible as it requires a great deal of love to vow one's life to another. Marbella is seen smiling alongside him and warmly holding his hand, proclaiming that they should all continue to live with love before the Count leaves.
Marbella has shown herself to be more brave and headstrong than her husband on multiple occasions, as she was not afraid to eat the dead locusts that Arcos was disgusted by and has calmly offered him comfort when he is in emotional distress. When embarking alone on a trip to Cremo, he explained that it would be a long and arduous journey, to which she confidently shouted back that she is a much better rider than him.
Similarly to him, however, Marbella is deeply caring of those dear to her and holds a great amount of love for her family. She is relatively quick to tears as well and is often seen tearing up alongside her husband, though is usually the calmer of the two. On occasions where Lloyd put himself into danger, both nobles have consistently voiced their opposition and have been quick to embrace him as soon as he is safe.
Marbella is shown to deeply care for her husband. In one of Lloyds ending spoilers where Acros is killed, she is shown to have never left his side once and died laying next to the coffin containing his body.
