And once again, Javier raised his sword. Bravely. And firmly.

Knight of Blood and Iron is the novel that Suho Kim was reading the night before waking up inside the body of Lloyd Frontera.

The novel follows its protagonist, Javier Asrahan, on his journey to becoming a masterful swordsman. The novel ended in the midst of Cremo's decline and did not return for a second season.

Known Events[]

The novel begins with Javier as an unknown knight of a country Lord, Arcos Frontera, who is betrayed by one of his knights, defrauded in a real estate deal, and falls prey to an evil conman before subsequently committing suicide alongside his wife. The couple's oldest son, Lloyd Frontera, is then forced to become a beggar and eventually dies as well due to his rampant alcoholism. Their second son, Julian Frontera, is forced to drop out of the academy he is attending due to their debt and is killed by a thief while wandering in a foreign land.

After the deaths of the Baron and Baroness, two deceitful moneylenders named Meatloaf and Shiloh arrive at the estate to desecrate their graves and sell their bodies. There, they run into Javier, who recites the Royal Family and Nobility act before swiftly beheading them both. He is brought before a judge and declared not guilty as the moneylenders were the ones trespassing without a warrant.

Despite not being legally at fault, Javier is still deemed a wanted criminal due to these murders and goes into hiding. He is eventually found and arrested by Count Cremo, who is able to judge the knight's character after only a few words and instead becomes an ally to him throughout the novel.

A few years after the start of the novel, empress Alicia Termina Magentano is betrayed by her trusted aide, Sir Kyle, and is forced to cut off her left arm to save herself from being poisoned. Having been forced to dispose of someone dear to her, Alicia's personality undergoes a drastic shift and she becomes a merciless, bloodthirsty tyrant. Her main emblem during this time was four-armed goat demon with wings, implying that she was likely not in her right state of mind.

Unknown Chronology[]

After falling asleep to the sound of a magician's spell, Javier finds the cure to his insomnia.

Some time early in the novel, Javier arrives at the hideout of a dark sorcerer named Lupellan. He is caught on the first of many traps at the entrance of the cave and continues while covered in wounds, though avoids all subsequent traps by carefully observing the unnatural concentrations of mana. Luppellan recounts his tragic story of only wanting to revive his wife and son, leading Javier to forgive him and let him go, though Luppellan does not change his ways and continues to kill hundreds more while going on to become a recurring villain.

Shortly after ascending to the status of sword master, Javier traveled to the Everglow Forest. There, he flirted with an elf and was gifted with a set of armor made from Elensia Tree sap. This armor granted him immunity to flames, allowing him to find and defeat Solitas the red dragon by cutting off his horns. Solitas retreated from the battle before he could be killed, instead retreating to his cave where he remained undiscovered before dying of his injuries.

Javier traveled to the county of Namaran and fell in love with Siluria Namaran. Unable to nullify Cannavaro's wall in time, Siluria is forced to sacrifice her life in order to save the citizens, utterly devastating Javier. The citizens blame him for the loss of the count's daughter, claiming that they would not have had any problems had he not interfered, and he believes these words to some extent. Consumed with grief, Javier accepts that he will only bring misfortune upon those close to him and vows to never hold anyone in his heart again.
