Hamang is a fantastical hippopotamus capable of growing to gigantic proportions after drinking a large quantity of water.
He was the third creature ever summoned by Lloyd Frontera, with his first construction project being the reclamation of the Maritz Wetlands.
Appearance[]
Hamang is a baby hippopotamus with short limbs and a small, pointed tail. He has a large, round tummy, and a protruding belly button. His eyes are relatively small with thin eyebrows each represented by a single line. Inside his mouth is a single flat tooth befitting his species. He also has the same rosy blush on both of his cheeks that is present among all other summons.
In the Webtoon, Hamang is a pastel yellow and possesses a single antenna on top of his head that changes depending on his emotion. In the novel, he is pink, has a longer face, and wears a headband with fake white cat ears.
Personality[]
As a baby, Hamang is adorable, childish, and easily excitable. He is somewhat naïve, as he was not aware that the noises he made were identical to his name and was surprised once Lloyd Frontera successfully guessed his name due to it. He is generally very cheerful and happy to do what he is told. He has a great affinity for water and is ecstatic when given the chance to drink large quantities.
Hamang prides himself on being cute and finds it more enjoyable than being large or strong, serving as the main reason for his dislike of red sunflower seeds, though this preference seems to be overshadowed by his greater love of water as he does not mind growing large due to drinking some. He also seems happy to be of use in construction when in this state. When not working, Hamang likes to rest and can fall asleep rather easily when he is comfortable.
Story[]
Maritz Wetlands[]
Hamang was first summoned by Lloyd Frontera in order to remove the excess water from the abandoned Maritz Wetlands. Upon reading his instruction manual, Lloyd discovered that he did not grow larger after eating red sunflower seeds, unlike Ppodong and Bangul, and wondered if he had gotten a dud. He attempted to make use of the Random Summon Game again before learning that it could only be used once a day. With low expectations, he took Hamang to the marsh regardless, where the baby hippo fell asleep in his arms during the commute.
To his surprise, Hamang was able to drink an immense quantity of water that left all sorts of aquatic life flopping on the newly exposed ground. With a newfound sense of energy, Lloyd swiftly turned his attitude around and praised Hamang before officially beginning the marsh's construction the following day. Hamang continued working diligently, sticking his head into visible pools of water and making use of large bamboo straws to take out groundwater until the process was completed.

Lloyd Frontera[]
Upon their first meeting, Lloyd was caught off guard by Hamang's small, unassuming appearance and found him rather cute. While initially disappointed with the description of his abilities, this opinion was quickly reversed after witnessing them for himself. Lloyd now sees Hamang as a valuable asset and a vital worker.
Lloyd treats Hamang particularly kindly due to his immaturity and small size, making sure to speak gently to him and embracing him when traveling via carriage. Hamang is very fond of Lloyd in return, feeling grateful towards him as the one who summoned and brought him into the outside world. He admires his intelligence to the point of calling him a genius simply for guessing his name. Hamang has shown worry when Lloyd is unwell and dutifully follows his orders.
Skills[]
Drinking from the Maritz Wetlands
- One Shot: Hamang can drink as much water as his stomach can hold in one go. This water will cause him to grow in size similarly to the effect of a red sunflower seed. He can then store this water to spit out elsewhere, potentially as a water gun. Getting rid of this water will shrink him back down to his normal size.
- In the Webtoon, Hamang is able to curl himself into a ball that bounces along the ground. He has also used this ability to launch himself at and hit monsters when enlarged.
- Also in the Webtoon, Hamang was able to save Javier Asrahan by using his enlarged body to cushion his fall from a vast height.

- Between the novel and Webtoon, Bangul and Hamang seem to have swapped their colors of pink and yellow, respectively.
