Right now, she is an honorable queen who listens even to the lowly!

Alicia Termina Magentano is the queen regnant currently residing in the royal capital of Magenta. She holds the highest authority in the land as well as absolute power with her overwhelming charisma, intelligence, and strength.

In the events of Knight of Blood and Iron, Alicia is said to become a ruthless, bloodthirsty tyrant following the betrayal of one dear to her.

Appearance[]

Alicia is a fair-skinned woman with bright cyan eyes, rosy lips, and curly scarlet hair that reaches her chin. She has an athletic build with a relatively large bust as well as wider hips and thighs.

Her typical attire consists of a fitted, pinstriped white top with a high collar and gold embroidery lining its collar, center part, and bottom edges. The embroidery on its center is notably more intricate and resembles a vine pattern. On top of this is a thin, fitted cream jacket with long sleeves, folded yellow cuffs, and the same gold embroidery lining its edges. She wears long brown pants, a thin belt around her waist, and tall black boots that reach her upper calf. She wears a rapier on her left hip.

Alicia also wears a regal outer jacket draped over her shoulders rather than wearing it properly. It has a high collar and is colored is a rich shade of red, slightly darker than her hair, and similarly has its button holes and outer edges lined with gold. The jacket also has yellow cuffs and epaulettes on either shoulder. Its inner fabric is a dark maroon with no decorations. In formal situations, this jacket is replaced with a black cloak bearing gold embroidery on its lower half. Its inner layer of fabric is a pale beige patterned with brown designs.

In the Webtoon, Alicia's eyes are drawn in a noticeably similar way to those of Javier Asrahan. Both characters possess naturally sharp gazes, resulting in a similar eye shape, and both have prominent eyelashes as well as blue irises (albeit a different shade). The edges of their eyes are also lined in red rather than black. They are the only characters to have their eyes lined in this way. These similarities is not present in the novel.

Personality[]

Alicia is tolerant, fair, and just, listening to all that stand before her regardless of class or rank. She is extraordinarily perceptive, able to sense the unique mana flow and innate talent of Javier Asrahan at a single glance, and as such only places her faith in people and statements that she has witnessed with her own eyes. This is shown both in her verbal testing of Lloyd Frontera after hearing of his accomplishments and her choice to summon the spell of confession on her own vassals despite having already developed some level of trust with them. When standing before her, Lloyd himself is strongly intimidated by her charisma despite having displayed reckless pride against all those he has confronted before.

While intolerant of disrespect, she finds blind faith and agreement just as detestable and values those that are able to speak for themselves. She is open to hearing about opinions that differ from hers, accepting Lloyd's criticism about her priorities and ultimately developing respect for him despite still finding him insolent. She displays a similar level of respect to Javier following the latter's awakening as a sword master, acknowledging and accepting his decision to remain as a knight of the Fronteras despite his denial of her orders being tantamount to treason.

As the queen, Alicia does not let personal bias obstruct her responsibilities and will dole out punishment to all that she sees fit. When confronted with the corruption and hateful culture residing in the Royal Academy, she calmly listens to all of Lloyd's accusations and closely reads his report while swiftly summoning the confession spell on the nobles that attempt to protest his claims. She orders for both those mentioned in the report and anyone with the slightest connection to them to be arrested and investigated in full without exceptions, with punishments ranging from lashings, land confiscation, and even execution depending on the severity of their crimes.

Alicia possesses a relatively playful side to her in contrast to her typically confident and serious self. This is seen most often in her interactions with Lloyd, commenting to herself that she seems to like him the more she speaks with him and thinking of his arrogance as adorable following their first meeting. Later at the banquet, she chooses to speak closely beside his ear when inviting him to stay in the castle and seems to find amusement in the nervous discomfort that her presence instills. This amusement returns several chapters later, laughing at the comparison of his appearance to a potato and smiling as she thinks of how to better utilize his skill. Alicia is the only woman in the story who finds Lloyd attractive despite his ugly looks.

Relationships[]

Sir Kyle[]

Alicia once appointed Sir Kyle as her right hand man and trusted him more deeply than anyone else. She relied on him in times of need and trusted in both his strength and judgement. Kyle appeared to return this level of trust and respect on the surface, dutifully serving her for many years as her aide, though did not ultimately hold any true care for her and ultimately betrayed her for a currently unknown reason.

Alicia's affection for Kyle was not deep enough to override her judgement and she did not hesitate to retaliate once confronted with his betrayal, losing all of her respect for him and serving due punishment in return for his acts of treason. Despite this, it is clear that she did truly care for him to some extent due to her reaction to this betrayal in the original Knight of Blood and Iron novel. She was driven to madness and became a merciless, bloodthirsty tyrant following his attack on her, though it is implied that these actions were not entirely hers and that an outside force was affecting her state of mind.

Lloyd Frontera[]

Chapter 83

Appealing to the queen

During their first meeting, Alicia was initially doubtful of Lloyd's qualifications, though quickly developed a liking for his ability to stand up to her. She was able to easily see through his ploys and yet allowed him to continue speaking, curious to see where his actions would lead, and ultimately granted him permission to proceed. While she was still somewhat displeased by his behavior and reckless confidence in besting her, the altercation did manage to make her smile in the end, thinking of him as so pathetic that it almost seemed adorable.

Conversely, while confident that he would be able to win her over, Lloyd still found himself intimidated by her charisma when meeting her for the first time. He respects her greatly in many fields, fearing both her strength and intelligence while placing his faith in her integrity as a fair ruler. He is often seen either groveling to earn her favor or singing her praises in return for the resources she has provided him with.

Chapter 94

Teasing Lloyd at the banquet

Alicia has developed somewhat of a fondness for Lloyd following their brief interactions. She is aware of the intimidating effect she has on him and seems to take amusement in making him uncomfortable. Due to his feats in constructing the Mageno River Bridge as well as saving her life after being poisoned, she has placed her complete faith in him and trusts his word above all others. She has expressed a desire to permanently keep his talents by her side and is willing to prepare both suitable compensation and royal accommodations for him the moment he should accept her offer.

Lloyd is well aware of this desire, though likens it to a superior requesting more work from him and does not currently have any intentions of accepting it. He is still rather intimidated by her and her position as the empress. He has referred to her as "[their] dear/darling queen" on multiple occasions and often praises her virtues as a kind, sensible leader.

Over time, the empress's trust in Lloyd turns into romantic feelings for him. It first shows when Lloyd returned from his mission from the Mermaid country, but she's oblivious to her own feelings and only thought of it as a concern for someone's trusted person. Eventually they grew closer when they spend two months with their hands tied together to purge Alicia's poison, but this time Alicia is aware of her love towards Lloyd and accepted it. Towards the end of the novel, just before Lloyd confronts the King of Hell, Alicia tells him that she will conduct a swordsmanship tournament for women to select a bride for Lloyd. She also tells him that she will participate in the tournament, implicitly proposing to Lloyd. When Lloyd returns as Kim Suho, Alicia wins the tournament and wastes no time marrying Kim Suho. Much to Kim Suho's dismay, Alicia takes him to an island for their honeymoon, where they undergo gruelling swordsmanship training. Many years later, the couple have a daughter named Charlotte, who has inherited Alicia's appearance and some of Kim Suho/Lloyd's personality traits.

Javier Asrahan[]

Alicia admires Javier's devotion and acknowledges his strength. Following the loss of her closest knight, she offered the newly advanced sword master the empty position, desiring to keep him close to her. He respectfully declined this offer while knowing full well that his denial was equivalent to treason. Aware of her absolute authority, she reminded the knight that he could be executed for such a choice, though ultimately respected his decision and continues to hold a positive opinion of him.
